The sport gained popularity in Argentina in late 1800, Several unofficial matches were held, but Team Argentina has been professionally playing international rugby matches since 1910, their first match was against the British Isles.

The team is managed/governed by Argentina Rugby Union which was established in 1899. Mr. Michael Cheika is the head coach of the team and Mr. Jullian Montoya is the captain of the current squad that will represent Argentina in the Rugby World Cup 2023.

Argentina's rugby team has never won a Rugby World Cup. However, their best result was in the 2007 Rugby World Cup, in which they finished third.
